Character Profiles - Planning

The following are profiles of the actors that were in the thriller and the characters they played and the reasons we chose them to act have also been added.

Ezra Veng - Tom Gold:

Tom Gold is a 19 year-old alcoholic, who has already suffered alcohol poisoning 3 times and has been warned by his GP that if he continues to drink the way he does he will not have very long to live, as his liver is already showing signs of weakening. He is usually a submissive and kind person, but he is an aggressive and abusive drunk and takes out many of his frustrations on his loving, but bossy, girlfriend. Despite the fights that the couple get into, they still love each other, but it was only a matter of time before something happened that would break them apart. Furthermore, Tom recently got into trouble with a local gang when he got into a fight with a member whilst drunk. This is not the first time Tom has gotten into fights whilst drunk.

Up to this date Ezra has appeared in 2 of the school's drama productions and is an active member of the drama club as well as being in 3 A level media studies course works and has directed 2, meaning he has a vast amount of experience in the field, and is was able to empathise with us and realised exactly what we were trying to put across and needed little direction.

Shira Kaliski - Amy Evans

Amy Evans is Tom's 18 year-old girlfriend who is very controlling within their relationship. She is slowly getting fed up of warning him to take heed of his doctor's warnings and stop drinking and of being at the end of beatings that she doesn't deserve. She becomes one of the suspects in the suspicious death of her boyfriend after they had yet another argument over his drinking. Although she has an alibi, she is still being considered asa a possible conspirer.

Shira is a good friend of mine, and I have known her for nearly 2 years and in her old school she set up a drama club that is still running even after she has left. In her new school she has taken full advantage of the opportunities of the drama club's productions and has already worked with Ezra in one of these productions. This means that they are already able to work with each other in a professional capacity.

Matthew Lester - Matt Rose

Matt Rose is a friend of Tom's who Tom met one night out whilst drinking. The two connected well the first time they met, and from then on went out drinking together almost every day for 2 months during the summer, which was one of the causes of Tom's illness. Although she has never done anything to him, Matt has always disliked Tom's girlfriend Amy, and always tries to make Tom feel better after he is feeling depressed when she berates him about his drinking, but his only way of doing this is to offer to take him out for a pint.

Matthew is friends with the other two members of the filming group and, as far as I am aware, has no experience of filming before this project. The reason we used him is that his voice seemed rather bleak, yet he still looked like the type of person who would go out for a drink.

Samuel Jackson - The Murderer

The murder's identity is unknown as is the motive behind the murder. Although in the killing scene the murder was committed by this character, the actual identity of the murderer is later revealed as a character from the film, and this character could be any number of the enemies that Tom has picked up throughout his drunken abusiveness.

Sam, a good friend of Ezra and Shira, offered to play the role when he heard that we were filming this thriller. He too is part of the drama club with Shira and Ezra, and like Ezra, is also a Media Studies student, meaning his acting abilities and his knowledge of the task at hand were both of a very good level.

As all the actors we used were friends of ours and go to the same school as us, we were able to have meetings with them in school at lunch times in order to arrange times for shooting and to give them scripts to tell them about the costumes they needed. Also, we created a facebook event in order to send reminders to all of the people involved to let them know if anything was needed

Jed Wilsher - Original actor for Tom Gold:

Jed has been a very close friend of mine for over 5 years and has appeared as an extra in the two hit TV series ER and The Bill as well as having worked on / behind the stages for stage acts such as "Wicked!" and has performed in charity events across London performing in "Lord Of The Flies" With his immense experience in the acting world I was hoping that he would be able to play the role of Tom in this sequence, but unfortunately, he was too busy at the time to take the part. [Goes to a different school and lives in a different area of North London so it would also have been hard for him to get to the venue of filming for the time needed]
